Honduras arrive at Austrian camp

he Honduran football team arrived late on Tuesday in Austria, where it will hold its pre-FIFA World Cup training camp and play three warm-up matches ahead of next month's tournament in South Africa. The central American contenders, led by coach Reinaldo Rueda, arrived after more than a four hour delay from another training camp in Heidelberg, Germany, to take up their quarters in southern Carinthia province.Earlier plans to stay in the resort town of Bad Bleiberg had to be revised after severe rain made the training ground there impracticable. The team will also play three friendlies over the next two weeks: against Belarus on 27 May in Villach, against Azerbaijan on 2 June in Zell Am See and finally against Romania on 5 June in Sankt Veit an der Glan. Honduras Squad Selection Controversies

Honduras coach Reinaldo Rueda has named his 23-man FIFA World Cup™ squad and seven reserves in case of injuries. Instead of naming a 30-man preliminary group, Rueda decided to reveal the 23 players to compete in South Africa next month, while seven more will be available if required. England-based trio Wilson Palacios, Hendry Thomas and Maynor Figueroa are part of the squad, along with experienced duo David Suazo and Carlos Pavon, while Georgie Welcome is the surprise replacement for the injured Carlos Costly.

Costly, who plays for Romanian side SC Valsui, has suffered a foot injury which will keep him out for at least four weeks. Rueda said: "There is no name to replace Costly because of his temper, his heart and all he gives to the national team." However, Costly is one of the reserves alongside Kevin Hernandez, Mariano Acevedo, Jerry Palacios, Johnny Leveron, Erick Norales and Melvin Valladares.

Honduras have been drawn in Group H alongside Chile, Spain and Switzerland. Fans can now buy Honduras World Cup Tickets which are now available online.
